When I bought these shoes I didn't realize they squeak each time your child takes a step. At first I was annoyed because I wanted "normal" shoes. My daughter hasn't learned to walk yet. I put these shoes on her and she likes the squeaking so much that it motivates her to keep taking steps when we assist her in walking. If it motivates her to learn how to walk then the squeaking is well worth it.
By the way, these shoes are very durable and made well.
