Very few companies manufacture "canvas" sneakers today, and they are very, very hard to find sold at "retail stores". "Adidas" is one of the few manufactures today. Unlike most of todays sneakers which are covered in leather, this sneaker is covered in a "heavy canvas". Here are a few of the benefits of canvas, over leather: canvas breathes (your feet don't get super hot, and sweaty), leather does not; canvas can be washed (in a laundry machine ), leather cannot; canvas does not crack over time, leather does(shorter life). Because of the previous factors, the wearer receives the following benefits: long life at low cost (had my last pair 6 years until I left them in a motel room by accident), a clean, non smelling repository for your feet, and great durability (I use mine on boats, while fishing, jogging and walking, and for casual dress )As to color, you can get them in more than just white, which is what I like. The bottom of the shoe is made of strong,flexable rubber, and the sole has a "traction tread" which is great on slippery surfaces (boats, pool areas, wet tile etc.)
When buying sneakers, especially when you cannot try them on first, I suggest that you go to a retail shoe store, have your feet measured with a heavy sock on. When ordering over the net, order your size 1/2" longer. Why? Because canvas shrinks somewhat when machine washed. Get a pair for yourself, and make you feet happy again! Mine are.
