I bought a hat like this 20 years ago in a specialty shop (it was a lot more expensive back them). I still have this hat and still wear it frequently (albeit with some custom trim). I'm glad to see these hats are still available and still made in the USA.This hat is VERY well-made. After getting rained on in tropical downpours and moderate rain, travel, heat, being stuffed in a travel bag, lots of wearing, it has held up extremely well and still looks good. The style of the hat lends itself to dressing up and dressing down. If you live in a hot climate and wear tailored suits, this hat is within the appropriate realm with a seersucker, linen, or other tropical-weight classic suit. It also works with dresses, slacks, and shorts made of hot-weather fabric for a casual look without being totally dressed-down. The ventilation is well-designed and definitely keeps the head cool -- exactly what is needed in a hot climate.
I think the style of this hat works for women's tropical business dress (depending on the style of the suit), but with tropical classic menswear I recommend a traditional panama or straw boater.
